Who must file Form B, the 1 March to 18 April window, the 2-line or 4-line statement, and the records to have ready before you start.
Self-employed people file Form B on myTax Portal between 1 March and 18 April, reporting the previous calendar year. Most agents and freelancers fill in a 2-line statement, which takes minutes if the year’s records are already in order.
Do I need to file?
You must file if, in the previous calendar year, your total annual income was more than S$22,000, or your net profit from self-employment was more than S$6,000.
2-line or 4-line statement?
- Revenue of S$200,000 or less: the 2-line statement, revenue and adjusted profit or loss.
- Revenue above S$200,000: the 4-line statement, revenue, gross profit or loss, allowable deductions, and adjusted profit or loss.
- Revenue of S$500,000 or more: also upload certified accounts.
What should I have ready?
- Total commission or fees for the year, from your statements.
- Total allowable business expenses, or 25% of gross commission if you qualify for the fixed ratio.
- Capital allowances on equipment bought.
- Receipts for every claim, kept for at least 5 years.
How do I file?
Log in to myTax Portal with Singpass, choose Individuals, then File Income Tax Return. Report self-employment income under Trade, Business, Profession or Vocation, and complete the statement that fits your revenue.
